報告人簡介：Andy Tsay（蔡安達）🏃🏻，美國聖塔克拉拉大學運營管理與信息系統系講席教授。他博士👶🏻、碩士均畢業於斯坦福大學👩🏿‍🏭。蔡安達教授的研究領域包括管理設計↪️⚡️，外包產業的供應鏈管理及商業分析量化建模。他的研究成果已發表在包括Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Interfaces, Production & Operations Management, Journal of Retailing, 及Journal of Supply Chain Management在內的國際頂級期刊上。他同時擔任多家學術期刊的副主編。

摘要: Outsourcing is not a new business practice. It is mandatory for all organizations and individuals – the only variables are which activities to outsource and to what extent.  Outsourcing of core functions in supply chains (e.g., design, manufacturing, logistics) is not a new concept either, but seems to have grown rapidly in popularity among OM/SCM researchers. This may be a due to recent failure cases, involving companies such as Boeing and Apple, which have drawn the gaze of the media and the general public. This talk will provide a tutorial on the reality of supply chain outsourcing and survey the prevailing OM/SCM paradigms for investigating the topic.  The intent is to help researchers produce more defensible work, as well as identify gaps in the literature that are worthy of attention.
